AIZAWL: To promote the concept of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' and carry forward 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan', the Aizawl Battalion of Assam Rifles is organizing a week-long exhibition on jute and jute products near the Assam Rifles football ground from March 16 to 21.
It is being organized under the aegis of Headquarters 23 Sector Assam Rifles/ Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) in coordination with the National Jute Board, under the Ministry of Textiles.
The event was inaugurated by Brigadier Digvijay Singh, SM DIG, 23 Sector Assam Rifles. About 24 manufacturing enterprises are displaying their eco-friendly roducts at the fair. The fair showcases jute as a diversified product, various stylish items like jute floor coverings, hand & shopping bags, wall hangings, gift articles, decorative fabrics, footwear, jewellery, file covers, laptop & mobile bags is being exhibited.
Jute's appeal as an environmentally friendly alternative to the traditional plastic carry bags and its utility for manufacturing wide range of handicraft products has helped it to emerge as one of the success stories of the smallscale industry.
The fair is being organized in Aizawl to promote jute products and encourage people to include them in their day-to-day life which will also facilitate local entrepreneurs to venture into the jute sector and further generate employment avenues, stated a release.
