AIZAWL: Various battalions of the Assam Rifles under the aegis of 23 Sector Assam Rifles/ Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) organized various civic programmes among the masses across Mizoram.

'EK BHARAT SHRESHTHA BHARAT': The 8 Assam Rifles conducted a poster-and-brochure campaign to commemorate the ideology of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' at the Battalion Headquarters location, Serchhip on February 27.

The initiative was announced by Prime Minister on October 31, 2015 on the occasion of the 140th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Through this innovative measure, the knowledge of the cultuVarious battalions of the Assam Rifles under the aegis of 23 Sector Assam Rifles/ Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) organized various civic programmes among the masses across Mizoram.e, traditions and practices of different States and Union Territories will lead to an enhanced understanding and bonding among the people of the country, thereby strengthening the unity and integrity of India.

Personnel of the Serchhip Battalion distributed brochures highlighting the strong ideologies of SardarVallabhbhai Patel. Furthermore posters and banners were also put up across Serchhip town. The occasion was used to strengthen the existing bond between the local populace and Assam Rifles.

WEAPON DISPLAY: The Serchip Battalion of Headquarter 23 Sector Assam Rifles organised a "Weapon Display on the occasion of 'National Science Day' for the students, teachers and families at Serchhip on February 27.

The mega event was attended by over 140 students and 15 teachers of Government Higher Secondary School, Serchhip. Weapons of all calibers were displayed for the audience. The students were briefed about the weapons and their effect of the target.

The motive of the display was to showcase the importance of science while simultaneously inculcating a sense of pride and patriotism among the youths. The display was followed by an interactive session regarding the upcoming recruitment drive.The event received overwhelming response from local populace and gave opportunity for strengthening bond with the people. The students along with teachers extended their gratitude towards the Assam Rifles for organizing the event and expressed their eagerness to work together with the security forces for the betterment and uplift of the area.

WORLD NGO DAY: The 'World NGO Day-2021' was celebrated at COB Ngopa on February 27 with an aim to foster greater synergy, enhanced cooperation and unhindered co-ordination between various NGOs in the Mizoram. The programme was organized to make the people aware of the importance of NGOs in the overall wellbeing of society.

Members of MHIP, YMA and VCP of the AOR attended the event and inclined themselves with the overall aim of the event. The representatives of respective NGOs exchanged their views, thoughts and analyses on the various agenda points. They appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles in the overall development and uplift of the people of Mizoram. They also shared their views on various avenues of cooperation and coordination between the armed forces and the general public. They emphasised on further boosting the recent trend of Mizo boys joining the uniformed services.

The recent developments in Myanmar also discussed in the meeting and all the representative gave assurance to work in close coordination with Assam Rifles in case of influx of migrants in the AOR. Further, the day was also celebrated the efforts of those social workers who have gone an extra mile to make this world and society a better place to live.

The meet culminated with the joint affirmation of the NGOs and the Assam Rifles with respect to increased degree of assistance to each other in ensuring prosperity and growth of people of Mizoram.

SPORTS ITEMS DISTRIBUTED: The Aizawl Battalion of Assam Rifles distributed sports items under AR CAP project at village Hnahlan on February 27. The programme was carried out with the aim to promote sports talent and sportsmanship among youth and to encourage budding sportsperson in the region.

The Assam Rifles has always been in the forefront of promoting sports culture in the region; and Mizoram being a sports-loving State, the Assam Rifles always provided and created the opportunities and resources for the locals to excel in the field of sports. Such initiatives not only provide a platform for the budding sportsperson but also aid them with the necessary help. The Assam Rifles has always been committed in promoting sports culture in the region by developing the sports infrastructure and uplifting the promising and rising sportsperson in the region. The youth and locals appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles,

ASSAM RIFLES DAY: On February 28, the Aizawl battalion of Assam Rifles organised an outreach programme for the ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and widows of Bharatpur and Dausa districts of Rajasthan to commemorate their valour and devotion to duty. The event was conducted at Dausa and Bharatpur districts of Rajasthan wherein a total of 35 ESMs, 01 Veer Nari and 02 Widows were felicitated.

The representatives of 46 Assam Rifles interacted with the ESMs, Veer Nari and Widows, handed over revised ARESA policies and guidelines and noted their grievances. The holistic aim of the programme was to attempt to look after our veterans, understand their grievances and resolve them at the fastest possible timeframe.

The interaction was followed by a felicitation ceremony wherein ceiling fans and sweets were handed over. The efforts of 46 Assam Rifles were appreciated.

MEDIA CONCLAVE: In order to maintain and strengthen the affiliation with media houses so as to effectively communicate with the locals, the Serchhip Battalion of Assam Rifles organized a 'Media Conclave' at Battalion Headquarter, Serchhip on March 1.

The aim of the conclave was to better functional coordination between Mizoram Journalist Association, Serchhip District and Serchhip Battalion of Assam Rifles. Future plans and projects for upliftment of local populace of Serchhip was discussed in depth.

The Commandant, Serchhip Battalion of Assam Rifles and the president of Mizoram Journalist Association, Serchhip District appreciated each other's works and pledged to work relentlessly for betterment of Serchhip Town and its residents.

The president of the organization along with other media person praised the philanthropic approach of the Serchhip Battalion. The media persons recognised the efforts made by Assam Rifles specially towards the uplift of girl child, war widows and orphans residing in Serchhip District.

During the conclave, the two sides agreed to continue their selfless efforts towards the campaign against drugs and maintain peace and tranquility in the region in the end. The conclave was attended by 11 journalists from Mizoram Journalist Association, Serchhip District. Towards the end, the president of Mizoram Journalist Assocation, Serchhip District facilitated the Commandant for benevolent approach in shaping the future of the Serchhip District, stated press releases.
