Assam Rifles recovers ginseng in Mizoram, apprehends two

AIZAWL: In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities, the Lunglei Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles -- under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) -- recovered 1000 kg of ginseng from the area of Lungpuk in Lunglei on February 27.

The operation was carried out by a Assam Rifles, based on specific information. The approximate market value of the recovered cache of items is Rs 60, 00,000.

The Customs Department of Saiha seized the contraband item. They also detained two individuals.

The ongoing smuggling of drugs is a major cause of concern for Mizoram, especially along the India-Myanmar Border. The Assam Rifles have continued their efforts against the smuggling activities in Mizoram, stated a release.
