GUWAHATI: NFRSA will face Pride East Maverick in the 2nd Protech Guwahati Premier Football League 2024 final which will take place at the Judges Field on Sunday. The match will kick off at 4:45 PM.
Both teams secured their spots in the final on Friday registering wins in their semi-final ties.
In the first semi-final, NFRSA edged out United Chirang Duar in a nail-biting encounter, winning 11-10 in a sudden death penalty shootout. Regulation time saw the two teams locked at 2-2 in a fiercely contested match.
NFRSA took an early 2-0 lead with goals from Sibra Narzary (26th minute) and Souvik Kar (71st minute). However, United Chirang Duar, relentless in their attacking approach, staged a remarkable comeback. Timothi Nazary halved the deficit in the 75th minute, and Onguene Nekengue Junior scored the equalizer just two minutes later.
In the second semi-final, Pride East Maverick delivered a commanding performance, defeating FC Green Valley 5-1. The team dominated from the outset, with Amit Thakuria (45+2', 72'), Sresth Joshi (49', 53'), and Jwngla Brahma (50') all finding the back of the net. FC Green Valley managed a consolation goal in the final minute of the game, courtesy of Dipankar Das (90').
