Guwahati : Azara turned into a chorus of sorrow and solidarity, as thousands of people marched seeking justice for the voice that once united them all. The rally at Loharghat’s Sasolpara playground on October 31 drew people from all across South Kamrup, including the Barduwa-Bagan region. In a tranquil yet powerful protest, Zubeen Garg's fans filled the streets with their chantings that hummed through the air.
The atmosphere was heavy with emotions as the throng marched with slogans like “Justice for Zubeen Garg”, “Give Zubeen Da Justice”, “We Will Stand United” and “BJP Government Beware”, expressing widespread outrage and unity among communities and ethnic groups. The demonstration was completely spontaneous with no artificial organisation. Participants freely marched to pay tribute and demand accountability for the artist’s unfortunate death
Among the thousands of Zubeen’s devoted supporters, his friends and family were seen to bear the torch in calling for justice. The singer’s long-time associate and a dear friend, Raja Boruah, while addressing the crowd, warned that anyone implicated in the controversy surrounding the singer’s death would face the wrath of millions. Boruah states, “The people will not remain silent.”
Additionally, supporting the cause, artist Panchana Rabha emphasises that justice must be served by the authorities, or the public will take note and intervene.
The march emphasises the public’s profound esteem and love for the cultural icon and reinforces calls for an open probe into his death.
