Biswanath: Assam Police have rescued 106 livestock and arrested 36 people during a major operation against alleged cattle smuggling in Biswanath district.

According to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the operation was carried out by Biswanath Police, who intercepted 10 vehicles allegedly transporting the livestock in inhumane conditions.

All 106 animals were safely rescued during the operation, while the 36 accused individuals were taken into custody.

The Chief Minister praised Biswanath Police for the action, saying the operation reflects the government’s continued resolve to prevent cattle smuggling and protect the interests of farmers.

Police are expected to conduct further investigation to establish the details of the alleged transportation network and the circumstances surrounding the movement of the livestock.
