Silchar: Assam Police have seized around 40,000 Yaba tablets valued at approximately Rs 8 crore during an operation at Saptagram in Dholai, Cachar district on Sunday.
Sharing the information on social media, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the drugs were recovered from a scooty during the operation carried out by Cachar Police.
Police apprehended two people in connection with the seizure. Police also recovered Burmese areca nuts from their possession.
The Chief Minister praised Cachar Police and Assam Police for the operation and urged people to remain vigilant against illegal activities.
The latest seizure comes as Assam Police continue their crackdown on drug trafficking and the illegal movement of narcotic substances across the state.
Further investigation is underway to establish the source of the Yaba tablets and identify others who may be linked to the suspected trafficking network.
