DIBRUGARH: The Assam Government’s Department of Housing and Urban Affairs has launched a special initiative, “Ten Cities, One Implementation,” aimed at ensuring planned and rapid urban development across ten major cities of the state.
As part of this initiative, Dibrugarh has been selected for comprehensive urban development. A meeting on the City Development Plan was held on Monday at the District Commissioner’s conference hall, chaired by Dibrugarh District Development Commissioner Anup Kr Brahma. Senior officials from various departments participated in the discussions, outlining strategies for effective implementation of the project.
The initiative focuses on urban planning, solid waste management, water supply, public infrastructure, traffic management, street lighting, and digital services to enhance the quality of life in these cities.
Meanwhile, earlier last month, the Assam Government had taken a number of crucial decisions to facilitate governance, enhance rural connectivity, and upgrade urban infrastructure during a Cabinet meeting.
Such measures indicated that the government was interested in the quality of life for its citizens by making the process smooth and making the investments precise.
A major achievement was the nod for the Assam Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Rules, 2024. It dealt with how to make registration citizen-friendly. In an attempt to streamline the procedure, every resident could, with ease, get the registrations of vital events without encountering undue procedural red tape, and the efforts were likely to galvanize greater efficiency and compliance in the system.
