Himachal: Bus Plunges Onto Lower Road In Himachal’s Chamba Injuring Many Passengers

Guwahati: Today morning,  at around  7:15 am, at least eight people were killed and 10 others injured after a private bus overturned and plunged onto a lower road in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district .

The accident occurred near Chalunj Mor on the Bairagarh-Tissa road, while the bus was travelling from Bairagarh to Chamba. The 27-kilometre mountainous route through the remote Churah Valley is known for its narrow stretches and steep drop-offs and serves as an important route to the high-altitude Sach Pass.

According per information, around 20 to 25 passengers were travelling on the bus when the accident occurred. Rescue operations were immediately launched, with  team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), police, home guards and fire services deployed at the site.

All 10 injured passengers were taken to hospital, with six reportedly sustaining serious injuries and being referred to Pt Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College and Hospital in Chamba for further treatment. Chamba Superintendent of Police Vijay Saklani said the cause of the accident was yet to be confirm and that police would investigate the circumstances leading to the crash.
