Manipur CM chairs high-level meet to strengthen highway security, ensure smooth transit

The Chief Minister issued clear directives to officials to take firm action against elements attempting to disrupt normal movement and to ensure that highways remain secure and functional.

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Khemchand Yumnam has chaired a high-level review meeting with senior officials to assess and strengthen security measures along National Highways across the state.

The meeting, held at the Secretariat, focused on ensuring the safety of commuters and maintaining the uninterrupted movement of people and goods amid ongoing concerns over highway security.

“The protection of life and the facilitation of safe, uninterrupted movement of people and goods remain our highest priority,” Emphasising the government’s priority, the Chief Minister wrote on X on Thursday.

The Chief Minister issued clear directives to officials to take firm action against elements attempting to disrupt normal movement and to ensure that highways remain secure and functional.

“Clear directives have been issued to firmly address and contain all disruptive and recalcitrant elements, ensuring secure corridors and smooth transit across the State,” Yumnam added.

Yumnam said that the Manipur government remains resolute in its commitment to uphold peace, stability, and public confidence through decisive and coordinated action.

The review comes as part of the state government’s continued efforts to strengthen law and order and restore public confidence in key transport routes.
