GUWAHATI: In a horrific incident at Assam's Darrang, a newly wed woman named, Yasmina Khatun was found hanging from the ceiling fan.
According to reports, the incident occurred in Rajapukhuri village under the Panbari outpost in Darrang district of Assam. The prime accuse of this incident is said to be the victim's husband Sofikul Islam(27) who the victim married 8 months ago.
Sources suggest that it to be an utter case of dowry. The victim's parents alleges that she was forced for a dowry of 3 lakhs rupees after marriage which she denied to give. For this matter it is assumed by the mother of the victim that she was supposedly killed and her in-laws staged the crime scene as suicide.
A case under section 304B (dowry death), 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code and the accused have been forwarded to judicial custody.
Earlier this year in May 2021, another mysterious death of a couple was found in their house in Barpeta Road, the reason for death is yet to be ascertained.
According to sources, the couple got married two months back. The husband was from North Athiabari in Barpeta Road and the wife was from Poragaon in Sorbhog. Their bodies have been recovered from their home, they were found hanging from the ceiling. The deceased was identified as Shanidul Islam (20), and Urmila Khatun (18).
A suicide note has been recovered from the room. The note, allegedly written by the couple, said that they love each very much and said that should be buried together.
