Guwahati: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu on Thursday assured teachers regularised through the Special Recruitment Drive (SRD) under Samagra Shiksha Assam that there is no issue with their salaries and that the delayed payment for this month will be released within a few days.
Pegu said he held discussions with representatives of the SRD Teachers Welfare Forum and the All Assam Primary Teachers’ Association regarding concerns over the salary of teachers who have recently been regularised.
The minister clarified that the delay has been caused by ongoing financial reforms in the treasury system and does not indicate any change in the teachers’ service conditions or salary structure.
According to Pegu, the teachers will continue to have their accounts under the Assam Finance Department’s FinAssam portal and will receive the same benefits available to regular government employees.
He said their salaries will now be processed through FinAssam and paid through the treasury. While the teachers previously received their salaries through their respective district treasuries, the salary for the current month will be credited through the Dispur Treasury.
Pegu further said there has been no change in the budget head from which the teachers’ salaries are paid.
The minister said the teachers have completed their service under Samagra Shiksha Assam and joined the Assam government as regular employees. They will continue to receive all benefits and service-related facilities applicable to regular government employees.
“There is no reason for concern,” Pegu said, urging the teachers to remain patient for a few more days.
He added that the change in the financial processing system has caused the delay this month, but such delays are not expected to continue in the future. Salary bills, payslips and other payment-related processes will continue through FinAssam, with salaries being credited through the treasury every month.
