Thank You ! Akshay Kumar for your generosity towards our state of Assam, Donates Rs 2 crs

Guwahati: After Assam Tourism Brand Ambassador Priyanka Chopra, Bollywood Star Akshay Kumar on Wednesday also came forward to donate funds for Assam Flood Relief.

As per his latest tweet, Akshay Kumar had donated 1 crore each to the Chief Minister Relief Fund and for Kaziranga Park rescue.

He further mentioned that he was absolutely devasted after looking at the ongoing flood situation in Assam.

“Absolutely heartbreaking to know about the devastation by floods in Assam. All affected, humans or animals, deserve support in this hour of crisis. I’d like to donate 1cr each to the CM Relief Fund & for Kaziranga Park rescue,” Akshay wrote in his twitter.

Alike Priyanka Chopra, Akshay Kumar also appealed all his fans and citizens of the nation to contribute to Assam Flood Relief.

It is to be noted that Bollywood star Akshay Kumar is among the world's 100 highest-paid celebrities, according to the annual Forbes Celebrity 100.

Akshay has secured the 33rd spot in the 2019 top 100 list with earnings of Rs 444 crore (€58.00 million). According to Forbes, Bollywood's top-earning star, Akshay "pulls in at least €4.46 million and up to €8.92 million per film." The actor also mints "millions for endorsement deals with over 20 brands."

Earlier, the Central Government on Tuesday also released an amount of Rs 251 crore as a grant-in-aid to State Government towards Central Share of SDRF during 2019-20 on the basis of the recommendation of the 14th Finance Commission for relief necessitated by natural calamities.

The Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance directed the state government to get this amount along with earlier releases of Central share and entire state share for this year, credited into the account of SDRF in the current year itself, and utilize as per the provision of the scheme for constitution and administration of the SDRF issued vide Ministry of Home Affairs.

It may also be mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday called Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and took stock of the ongoing flood situation in the State, while Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Sekhawat will be visiting the State on Tuesday to review the flood situation which has so far killed 15 people and affected over 42.86 lakh others. Of the 15 killed, 13 died in floods while two lost their lives in landslides. The Brahmaputra and all the important rivers are flowing above the danger level.

Sonowal spoke to the Prime Minister on the phone and apprised him of the steps taken by the State government to help the affected people across 28 districts of Assam.
