Dibrugarh's Ankita Chetia And Ratul Moni Mahanta To Represent Assam At National Games 2025

Ankita Chetia will compete in Fast Five Netball and Mixed Netball, while Ratul Moni Mahanta will be the Manager of Assam’s Netball Team.

DIBRUGARH: Ankita Chetia and Ratul Moni Mahanta from Dibrugarh have been chosen to represent Assam at the 38th National Games 2025 taking place in Uttarakhand. Ankita will compete in Fast Five Netball and Mixed Netball, while Ratul Moni Mahanta will be the Manager of Assam’s Netball Team.

The 2025 National Games started on January 28 in Uttarakhand, with over 10,000 athletes from all over India taking part. Competitors from 28 states, 8 Union Territories, and the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) are competing in 32 sports across 11 venues in the state. Organized by the Indian Olympic Association, the event is bringing excitement to both players and fans.

As of February 4th, Assam has won nine silver and five bronze medals. Karnataka is leading with 28 gold medals and a total of 53 medals, followed by SSCB and Maharashtra. The 2025 National Games are still underway, with the theme "Sankalp Se Shikhar Tak" (From Resolution to Zenith), as athletes from across India compete for victory.

Meanwhile, olympic medalist boxer Lovlina Borgohain put on an amazing performance at the 38th National Games, winning 5-0 against her opponent from Uttarakhand in the 75kg category and reaching the semifinals.

With this win, Lovlina has secured a medal in the Games. Assam’s boxing team kept impressing, with Avinab Saikia also advancing to the semifinals in the 71kg category, defeating his Uttarakhand opponent 5-0 and ensuring another medal for Assam.
