GUWAHATI: The Department of Paediatrics at AIIMS Guwahati, in collaboration with National Health Mission (NHM) Assam and UNICEF Assam, successfully conducted the SAMBHAV Module, a hands-on training workshop on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), at the AIIMS Guwahati Auditorium. The primary aim of the programme was to equip healthcare professionals with practical skills in the early screening, assessment, and multidisciplinary management of ASD.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Prof. (Col) Ashok Puranik, Executive Director of AIIMS Guwahati, along with Anand Sharma, RBSK State Consultant, NHM Assam, Dr Maulick Shah, Health Specialist, UNICEF Assam, and Dr Manasi Bhattacharjee, Dean of Academics.
During the event, the Executive Director officially launched the SAMBHAV Module, reflecting AIIMS Guwahati’s dedication to strengthening institutional capacity in autism care. SAMBHAV stands for Screening, Assessment, and Management & Behavioural Approach for Autism with a Vision, and the module focuses on practical, evidence-based strategies tailored to the Indian context.
In a unique gesture, members of the AIIMS Guwahati Environmental Club presented guests with saplings as a token of sustainability and ecological responsibility, commemorating World Earth Day. This gesture beautifully connected the mission of health and healing with the well-being of our planet.
