Guwahati: In a gesture of warmth and hospitality, Assam Tourism and allied departments have rolled out special arrangements to welcome devotees arriving from across the country for this year’s Ambubachi Mela. Tourism Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass personally visited Kamakhya Railway Station on Monday to greet devotees on behalf of the people of Assam and interacted with them during their spiritual journey.

As part of the initiative, the state tourism department has, for the first time, established five dedicated welcome centres under the banner “Pranam” at key locations—Kamakhya Railway Station, Pandu Port, Bhootnath, Kamakhya Namani, and Adabari. These centres aim to ensure a warm reception for the thousands of pilgrims visiting the historic Maa Kamakhya temple during the festival.

To further assist devotees, the department has printed multilingual welcome booklets in four languages, which are being distributed at the welcome centres.

With thousands of devotees pouring in, some by train, others by bus, on foot, or in private vehicles, the atmosphere in Guwahati is charged with spiritual fervour. Volunteers and members of various organizations have joined hands, embracing the spirit of “Atithi Devo Bhava” (Guest is God) to provide guidance and assistance to the visitors.

During his visit, Minister Dass also took the opportunity to encourage and appreciate the efforts of the volunteers and workers engaged in the welcome initiative, underscoring the government’s commitment to making the Ambubachi Mela a memorable experience for all.
