Annapurna East India Fashion Week set to dazzle Guwahati on May 2 & 3

The F&DC, a non-profit registered society, is all set to host the sixth season of the Annapurna East India Fashion Week on May 2 and May 3 at a city hotel.

GUWAHATI: The Fashion & Design Council Northeast India (F&DC), a non-profit registered society, is all set to host the sixth season of the Annapurna East India Fashion Week on May 2 and May 3 at a city hotel. The event, sponsored by the Annapurna group, aims to promote fashion designers and handloom weavers from Northeast India.

Around 20 fashion designers and handloom weavers from different states of Eastern India will showcase their creations during the two-day fashion extravaganza, which will be held from 2 pm to 8 pm. The event also features an exclusive Project Runway for Kids and Teens, where over 30 participants will display their designs after undergoing a two-day workshop on public speaking and confidence building.

On the final day of the event, the Legend of Northeast award will be presented to eminent author Monikuntala Bhattacharjya in a glittering ceremony. The evening will also feature a performance by popular multi-instrumentalist Amar Sangam from Mumbai. The grand finale designer for the event is Meghna Rai Medhi.

The fashion week kicked off with a press conference and panel discussion on “On Green Threads, rich traditions: transforming Northeast India’s heritage handlooms into a sustainable business model for the artisans” at the hotel. The president of F&DC, Medha Saikia, has invited the public to attend the event on May 3, promising a spectacular display of fashion and talent.
