GUWAHATI: The Directorate of Secondary Education (DSE), Assam, has upgraded 23 tea garden model schools in 13 districts to higher secondary schools for the 2025-16 academic session.
The breakup of the upgraded model schools and their districts are eleven in Dibrugarh, two in Hailakandi, and one each in Biswanath, Cachar, Charaideo, Darrang, Golaghat, Karbi Anglong, Lakhimpur, Sivasagar, Sonitpur and Tinsukia. All these 23 newly upgraded higher secondary schools will have only an arts stream.
On April 21 this year, the state government upgraded 92 high schools of the state as higher secondary schools in 30 districts. With these, now the state has as many as 1,153 higher secondary schools.
