Pension-related documents were distributed to 24 retired teachers and non-teaching staff of secondary schools in Kamrup Metropolitan district on March 31, as part of an ongoing effort to simplify post-retirement formalities.

The handover took place at a formal programme held in the auditorium of the Directorate of Secondary Education in Guwahati.

Deputy Director of Secondary Education Dipika Choudhury personally handed over the documents to the beneficiaries — teachers and employees who retired during the month of March.

Choudhury also urged the retired educators to stay connected with the field of education and encouraged them to register under the Vidyanjali scheme, which allows retired teachers to continue contributing to the teaching community on a voluntary basis.

The event is part of a structured initiative that the department has maintained since November 2023, ensuring that retiring personnel receive their pension documents either on or before their actual date of retirement — eliminating delays that have long been a concern for retiring government employees.

Gobinda Chandra Kalita, advisor of the Assam Secondary Teachers' and Employees' Association, praised the Kamrup Metropolitan district administration for consistently conducting these programmes.

He made a strong appeal for the initiative to be replicated across all districts of Assam, so that retiring teachers throughout the state can benefit from the same timely and dignified post-retirement process.
