GUWAHATI: In a major success in its ongoing efforts to curb transborder crimes and narcotics smuggling, troops of the 157 Battalion of Border Security Force (BSF) under Guwahati Frontier have seized 2331 prohibited yaba tablets and 27.525 grams of brown sugar valued approximately at Rs 17.25 lakh during a special operation in the Coochbehar district of West Bengal. Acting on a specific tip-off, vigilant BSF personnel launched a meticulously planned operation along the sensitive Indo-Bangladesh border on April 28, 2025. During the operation, the troops recovered narcotics that were intended to be smuggled from India into Bangladesh. Recognising the growing threat of transborder smuggling and activities of anti-national elements, BSF has significantly intensified its operations in the region. This latest seizure marks another milestone in the BSF’s relentless efforts to secure the borders and thwart illegal cross-border activities, a press release said.
