Guwahati: Chief Secretary of Assam, Dr. Ravi Kota, today laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art 1,000-capacity auditorium at the Janata Bhawan Complex in Dispur. This initiative forms a vital part of the master plan for the redevelopment of the Secretariat Complex and Ministers’ Colony, conceptualized under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. The project is slated for completion by April 2027.

The modern facility will feature an elevated two-level gallery with a total seating capacity of 773 and an additional balcony accommodating 240 people. Key amenities will include a conference hall, VIP and general lounges, an in-house pantry, and inclusive restrooms.

Intended to serve as a venue for official functions, cultural events, and high-level meetings, the auditorium aims to strengthen the infrastructure of the Janata Bhawan Complex to meet evolving administrative and ceremonial needs.

During the event, Design Associates presented the comprehensive redevelopment Master Plan. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Kota urged Secretariat personnel to actively contribute suggestions to improve infrastructure and amenities. He also proposed forming internal groups for art, culture, and sports to encourage staff participation in various on-premise events.
