GUWAHATI: The Kamrup Metropolitan District Committee of the Communist Party of India on Saturday organized a protest near Meghdoot Bhavan at 11 am demanding the withdrawal of the “One Nation, One Election” policy. The party also sought solutions to pressing public issues, including skyrocketing prices of essential goods, inadequate drinking water supply, and the exploitative smart meter system. Hundreds of party workers and supporters gathered, raising demands and participating in the protest. Key speakers criticized the BJP-led central government’s “One Nation, One Election” concept, terming it a step toward creating a centralized, authoritarian regime.
