Assam: Four-Day-Long Gunotsav Kicks Off in Kamrup District

The four-day-long ‘Gunotsav’ has begun on January 6 in Kamrup district with an aim to improve the quality of the school education system.

Rangia: The four-day-long ‘Gunotsav’ has begun on January 6 in Kamrup district with an aim to improve the quality of the school education system.

Kamrup is one of the districts covered in the first phase of Gunotsav 2025, with 2078 schools set to be evaluated, covering over 172,389 students from Classes I to IX. These include government schools, provincialized schools, Kasturba Gandhi Valika Vidyalaya, residential schools, Adarsha Vidyalaya, and tea garden model schools across 9 education sectors in the district. The evaluation process, which started with self-evaluation on January 6, will continue with external evaluation from January 7 to 9.

A total of 917 external evaluators, including senior state government officials, have been appointed to ensure the smooth functioning of Gunotsav in Kamrup district.

On the first day of external evaluation today, 698 schools were covered, with notable officials participating in the process, such as District Commissioner, Kamrup, Deba Kumar Mishra, who participated as an external evaluator in the school evaluation process at Amingaon Bengali High School. Similarly, Susanta Kumar Dutta, District Development Commissioner, Kamrup; Pranab Dutta Goswami and Pranjit Kumar Deb, Additional District Commissioners, Kamrup; and other dignitaries also participated as external evaluators in Gunotsav today.
