Assam: Fraudster Arrested by Police in Guwahati City

A person from Bihar has been apprehended by the police in connection with a bank fraud case.

GUWAHATI: A person from Bihar has been apprehended by the police in connection with a bank fraud case. He was involved in a forgery of a signature on a cheque and embezzlement of Rs. 4.8 lakh. The incident occurred at an Axis Bank branch in Rajgarh, Guwahati, and was reported to the Dispur Police Station, leading to the registration of a case (1263/24).

According to the sources, the victim, Rituparna Kalita, received an alert on his mobile phone regarding the unauthorized transaction and immediately contacted the bank to report the issue. The police investigation revealed that the accused, Singh, forged the signature on the cheque and attempted to deposit it. The accused is currently in police custody, and authorities have charged him under multiple sections, including BNS 303(2), 318(4), 336(3), and 340(2).
