Guwahati: Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya convened a meeting with the Directorate of Sainik Welfare at Raj Bhavan today focusing on the welfare and empowerment of ex-servicemen and Veer Naris (war widows) in the state.
The meeting was attended by Lieutenant General (Retd.) Rana Pratap Kalita and Director of Sainik Welfare, Brigadier (Retd.)Palash Choudhury, along with senior officials. The Governor engaged in a threadbare discussion on strengthening welfare initiatives for leveraging the skills, discipline, and experience of ex-servicemen in the development of society and nation-building.
Governor Acharya while expressing his deep respect to the armed forces community, emphasized the need as to how Sainik Welfare Board can serve as a catalyst for empowerment of the ex-servicemen and integration of the nation. The meeting underscored the need for a strong framework to support and engage ex-servicemen meaningfully across various sectors.
The Governor also underscored the importance of reaching out to ex-servicemen across Assam to ensure that welfare measures are effectively implemented and accessible to all, stated a press release.
