Female voters outnumber their male counterparts

GUWAHATI: The office of the District Election Officer (DEO) of Kamrup (Metro) Election District published the draft electoral roll with January 1, 2025, as the base year for the panchayat poll slated for 2024-25. Female voters outnumbered their male counterparts in the district.
The district has three anchalik panchayats (APs) with six zila parishads (ZPs). The total number of electors in the six ZPs in the district is 189,058—91,639 males, 97,412 females, and seven others.
Now the draft electoral roll is open for submission of claims and objections from December 14-21, 2024. The DEO will have to dispose of the claims and objections from December 22-26. The final electoral roll for the panchayat poll will be published on December 28, 2024.
The copies of the draft electoral roll are available at the office of the Kamrup (M) District Commissioner, the office of the CEO of Kamrup (M) Zila Parishad, and the offices of the block development at Rani, Dimoria, and Chandrapur, besides all gaon panchayat offices under the three block development offices.
According to the draft electoral roll, Ramcharani AP has two ZPs—Deepor Beel and Rani Sapori. Deepor Beel ZP has two gaon panchayats with 28 polling centres with as many as 25,697 electors—12,233 males, 13,463 females, and 1 other. Rani Sapori ZP has three gaon panchayats with 30 polling centres having 20,260 electors—9,836 males and 10,424 females.
Dimoria AP has three ZPs—Borkhat, Dimoria, and Sonapur. Borkhat has four gaon panchayats with 47 polling centres having 33,156 electors—15,921 males and 17,235 females. Dimoria has four gaon panchayats with 45 polling centres having 38,218 electors—18,524 males, 19,692 females, and two others. Sonapur has four gaon panchayats with 47 polling centres having 35,640 electors—17,369 males, 18,269 females, and two others.
The Chandrapur AP has only one ZP named Pragjyotishpur that has three gaon panchayats with 42 polling centres having 36,087 electors—17,756 males, 18,329 females, and two others.
