GUWAHATI: The Kamrup Chambers of Commerce (KCC) has reassured the public that there is no scarcity of essential food commodities or any unusual price hike in Assam. Dismissing circulating rumours, the chamber affirmed that the state’s supply chains remain intact and fully functional. A spokesperson from the chamber addressed growing public concerns, emphasizing that the movement of goods via both rail and road from key supplying states — including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal — continues without disruption. “As long as train services operate normally, there is no reason to expect shortages or a surge in prices,” he said.

Adding to this reassurance, a wholesaler from Guwahati’s bustling Ganeshguri market confirmed that prices of food items remain steady. “We are still procuring at existing rates, although many customers ask if prices are going to rise,” he noted.

The city’s meat and fish markets are also witnessing normal operations, with uninterrupted transportation of fish and poultry. No supply issues have been reported, and business continues as usual. Authorities, along with business leaders, are closely monitoring the supply and price levels of essential commodities across the state. Their unified stance is aimed at curbing misinformation and preventing unnecessary panic among the public. Regular oversight is being maintained to ensure that the markets remain stable and well-stocked, reinforcing public confidence in the state’s robust supply system.
