Guwahati: Good news regarding the production of Assam tea emerged recently, showing an increase of 14.02 million kg in June 2026, when compared to that of June 2025.
According to a report by Tea Board India, Assam produced 85.60 million kg of tea in June 2026. The production in June 2025 was 71.58 million kg. Of the 85.60 million kg of tea produced in June 2026, big growers manufactured 42.35 million kg while small growers contributed 43.25 million kg to the total production.
Similarly, the country as a whole also produced more tea in June this year, with a production of 160.43 million kg compared to 140.57 million kg in June last year. Thus, the country produced 19.86 million kg more in June 2026. Of the 160.43 million kg of tea, 140.48 million kg was CTC, 17.53 million kg Orthodox and 2.42 million kg Green Tea.
