GUWAHATI: In a shocking incident, two men brutally murdered their own friend in Kalpani Garo Basti in Guwahati's Maligaon area. Following a drunken brawl, the victim, Indrajit Sangma, was stabbed to death with a sharp stick by his two friends, identified as Sunil Marak and Bikash Marak.
According to reports, the three were consuming alcohol on the night of February 9 when a minor disagreement escalated into a physical fight. In a fit of rage, Sunil and Bikash attacked Indrajit with a sharp stick, killing him on the spot.
In an attempt to hide the crime, the accused wrapped Indrajit’s body in plastic and dumped it in a nearby jungle. However, on Monday, a local resident noticed the body and immediately informed Maligaon police. Following an initial investigation, the police detained Sunil Marak and Bikash Marak for their involvement in the murder. Further investigation is underway.
In another similar incident, the Bhangagarh Police arrested two youths—Asim Dutta and Madhurya Gogoi—in connection with the death of Morom Mayur Dutta, whose body had been found at Chilarai Nagar under Bhangagarh Police Station last year in December. Both Asim and Madhurya were friends of Morom Mayur.
According to police, they could identify the two youths based on the CCTV footage of the duo dumping the body. The police arrested Madhurya from Nagaon and Asim from Guwahati.
