GUWAHATI: Basistha Police arrested six alleged thieves accused of involvement in multiple theft and robbery cases during a crackdown on criminal activities in the area. The arrested persons were identified as Mahibul Islam, Nitul Medhi alias Babu, Rajib Ali alias Alo, Dipak Saha, Dipak Das alias Chitra and Rubul Oja alias Malpua. Police said the accused were allegedly involved in several theft and robbery cases. Acting on leads gathered during the investigation, police launched an operation and apprehended the six. Several suspected stolen items, including laptops, mobile phones and tools allegedly used in thefts, were recovered during the operation. In a related development, police also arrested Maidul Islam from Lakhtokia based on information and statements obtained from the accused during questioning. Police alleged that Maidul had purchased stolen gold and silver ornaments from the theft suspects. Further legal action has been initiated.
