Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday said the BJP conducted an extensive ground-level consultation across Assam before finalising its election manifesto — the 'Sankalp Patra' — for the 2026 Assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters, Sonowal said the party went door to door across all parts of the state to collect public suggestions on what voters wanted the government to prioritise in its next term.

"The background of the preparation of the Sankalp Patra — we went to the people in all parts of Assam. We went house to house and collected people's suggestions regarding what to do in the next term," Sonowal said.
"More than 3 lakh people have given their suggestions. It is people's democracy," he added, describing the manifesto as a document shaped directly by public input rather than party diktat.
Sonowal also reaffirmed the BJP-led alliance's confidence ahead of polling day.
"I have been repeatedly saying that we are close to 100 with our allies," he said, signalling the NDA's expectation of a comfortable majority in the 126-seat Assam Legislative Assembly.
The Assam Assembly elections are currently seeing intense campaigning from all major political parties as they make their final push for votes.
