Guwahati: Congress’ deputy leader of the Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi, is spearheading a campaign against Advantage Assam 2.0. The Congress leader has been projecting a lopsided picture of the much-awaited investment summit not only among the people of the country but also at the international level. Lambasting the Congress party, state BJP spokesperson Subhash Dutta, while addressing the media in a press meet at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan here on Thursday, said that the Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has been involved in a conspiracy to malign the upcoming Advantage Assam Summit 2.0 by making misleading statements in the past few days. A few days ago, another Congress leader from Karnataka, Minister Priyank Kharge, also tried to downplay the upcoming mega semiconductor plant by making some false and baseless statements. Such a policy of the Congress is dead against the people and the development of the state.

Spokesperson Dutta said these Congress leaders have been trying to derail Advantage Assam 2.0 by making misleading statements as they know that the success of this event will severely affect them politically. This reflects these leaders’ anti-Assam stance. The spokesperson said that every political party, irrespective of its affiliations, must extend wholehearted support to the upcoming event. Congress has many issues to indulge in, but it is not at all acceptable if they put a spanner in Assam’s wheel of development. Exuding optimism that Advantage Assam 2.0 will help catapult Assam to economic growth and prosperity, Dutta said that Assam’s GSDP has risen from 21.4 billion dollars in 2013-2014 to 68.7 billion dollars in 2023-24. Dutta further said that Assam under the leadership of CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has been striving relentlessly to become one of the 5 leading states of the country and hope that Assam will exceed 6 lakh crore GSDP very soon. The spokesperson said the upcoming mega event will not only strengthen the infrastructure of the state but also augment industrial development and thanked Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on behalf of the BJP. Assam Pradesh for organising this mega event, a press release said.
