Death threats to Assam Public Works President Abhijeet Sarma, two detained

Two people have been detained in the connection of giving death threats to Abhijeet Sarma, president of Assam Public Works (APW).

GUWAHATI: Two people have been detained in the connection of giving death threats to Abhijeet Sarma, president of Assam Public Works (APW).

According to the FIR that was lodged at Bhagadattapur Outpost, it stated that, on September 26 night, Abhijeet Sarma was given death threats first by a local call and then two consecutive international calls.

In this connection, a case (1888/2023 under Section 294/507) has been registered. According to police sources, two people have been detained: one identified as suspended ACS officer Baranya Borthakur and the other as his accountant, Dip Kalita. The two were allowed to go after interrogation.
