GUWAHATI: A joint team of the GMC (Guwahati Municipal Corporation) the Veterinary Branch, the Enforcement Branch and the Assam Police inspected and then evicted vendors of poultry, mutton, fish, egg and vegetables from the roadsides and foot paths.
The operation was carried out in the areas of Paltan Bazar, Ulubari, Sarabbhati, Cancer Hospital, Kahilipara Colony Bazar, Lalganesh, Jyotikuchi and Lokhara.
During the drive, the team seized 140 kgs of fish, 70 kgs of mutton, 60 kgs of poultry, 200 kgs of vegetables, five cartons of eggs, and five bicycles and imposed Rs 17,500 as penalty. The seized items were disposed at the Boragoan dumping ground.
