GUWAHATI: Two organizations, the Hindu Suraksha Manch and United Trust of Assam, have lodged an FIR at the Dispur Police Station here against a Canadian filmmaker named Leena Manimekalai for allegedly using an objectionable poster to promote her documentary 'Kaali'.

The complainants have accused the filmmaker of "hurting religious sentiments with the poster of her documentary Kaali" and sought "necessary action against her as soon as possible".

The poster of the documentary reportedly shows a woman dressed as Goddess Kali smoking a cigarette. Hindu organizations in some other parts of the country have also raised objections to this depiction of Goddess Kali.
