Guwahati: In a continued effort to enhance civic amenities in the city, Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) Commissioner Dr. M.S. Lakshmi Priya, IAS, conducted an inspection of Ward No. 17 and 31 on Thursday. She was accompanied by local ward councillors Snighda Mazumdar and Ratna Singh, along with GMC officials and engineers.

The visit focused on addressing key civic concerns, particularly related to waste management and flood mitigation. Officials reviewed the effectiveness and frequency of garbage collection in vending and market areas and inspected garbage-vulnerable points that require immediate attention.

Dr. Priya also assessed the ongoing transformation of secondary garbage collection points and the implementation of bin-free garbage translocation methods, aimed at creating a cleaner and more efficient waste disposal system in the city.

One of the major highlights of the visit was the evaluation of successful flood mitigation measures implemented in AGP Road and B. Barua Road. These areas, which previously suffered from severe waterlogging, have seen significant improvement due to recent interventions.

GMC reiterated its commitment to improving sanitation, enhancing public infrastructure, and building a more resilient and sustainable Guwahati through consistent field reviews and community engagement.
