Guwahati: Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora inaugurated the Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) Mela 2025 at Shilpgram, Panjabari, today. Organized by the Department of Agriculture in collaboration with the Assam Small Farmers’ Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC), the three-day event aims to boost Assam’s agricultural sector by providing a platform for farmer groups to showcase and market their products.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Bora emphasized the importance of the Central Government’s Formation and Promotion of 10,000 FPO Scheme, which seeks to empower small and marginal farmers through collective farming and better market access. He highlighted the immense potential for Assam’s farmers in adopting collaborative business models.

The event features participation from 43 FPOs from Assam and two from Meghalaya, displaying a variety of locally produced agricultural goods. The mela also facilitates direct engagement between farmers, customers, and business stakeholders, fostering commercial opportunities for small-scale agricultural enterprises.

Several key officials attended the inauguration, including Agriculture Production Commissioner Aruna Rajoria, Director of Agriculture Bhaskar Pegu, Agriculture Secretary Tez Prashad Bhushal, NABARD Chief General Manager Loken Das, and SFAC Consultant Hari Boro.
