Guwahati: The 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) was celebrated across all 33 districts of Assam with immense zeal and coordinated participation on June 21 under the nationwide YOGA SANGAM initiative. From 6:30 am to 7:45 am, over 43,870 government-provincialized schools and 377 PM SHRI Schools remained open to host the mass yoga event, embracing the 2025 theme: “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”

In adherence to the Government of India’s directives, all participating institutions followed the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP). Students, teachers, staff, and community members enthusiastically joined in the morning session, reinforcing the values of mindfulness, discipline, and holistic health.

The event witnessed the participation of 24,88,380 students, 1,80,299 teachers and staff, and 1,30,015 parents and community members, making it one of the largest collective wellness movements in the state. Leading up to IDY, schools were registered on the official IDY 2025 portal, and regular yoga practice sessions were conducted based on CYP guidelines available at https://yoga.ayush.gov.in/yoga-sangam.

To raise awareness, promotional flyers in English and Hindi highlighting the 10 Signature Events and the significance of yoga were distributed widely. All branding and communication materials were sourced from the official Branding Kit provided by the Ministry of AYUSH.

At both the state and district levels, Nodal Officers were appointed to oversee the smooth execution of activities, ensure protocol compliance, and facilitate timely data reporting. The entire event was well documented through photos and videos, which have been uploaded on official media handles and compiled for reporting via a centralized spreadsheet.
