GUWAHATI: Bor Bihu is our traditional Bihu folk which encapsulates the spirit of Rongali Bihu, marking the New Year in April and bringing in festivities in the state of Assam. Singer Abhishruti Bezbaruah, who is popularly known for her foot-thumping Bihu folk fusion numbers such as Roi Roi Roti, Kerumoni Thuriya, Tok Dekhi Mor Gaa, and Dighloti Dighol Paat, this time delves into the rawness of Bihu folk, attempting Bihu Naam in her release titled “Bor Bihu”. Bor Bihu, as the name suggests, has the grandness of Bihu, and the lyrics of the song have made it rich and pure. Compiled and set in tune by legendary Bor Bihuwa Niranjan Goswami, Bor Bihu will make its listeners groove to its beat.
The audio has been beautifully produced by the very talented Anupam Konwar and mixed & mastered by none other than Ibson Lal Baruah, a renowned lyricist of the state of Assam. The music video features young upcoming actor Boibhabi Goswami, is directed & choreographed by Samin Das, has cinematography by Bitul Das and has been edited by Manas Kashyap. The Bihu dance choreography has been beautifully designed by Gayotri Boro. Bor Bihu has been formally launched by veteran actor Kopil Bora in the presence of esteemed guests, namely Niranjan Goswami, Ibson Lal Baruah, Boibhabi Goswami, and Samin Das, at the Guwahati Press Club on Friday.
Abhishruti believes in and strongly stands for inclusivity. “Music in Sign Language” is an initiative by Abhishruti where all her songs are interpreted in Indian Sign Language for the hearing-impaired community. These music videos feature deaf talents from Assam. Abhishruti’s live shows also feature deaf talent, and she has performed live with her in the last Bihu season, receiving a lot of praise and applause.
This series already has six songs released, namely Roi Roi Roti, Esaati Botaah, Jhumur, Ore Raati, and Aaj Jaane ki Zid Na Karo, making Dighloti Dighol Paat, the 6th song in the series. Bor Bihu is already being translated into Indian Sign Language by Priyanka Newar. Abhishruti has also released her song “Ore Raati”, which addresses and appeals to the society for the inclusion of the LGBTQIA+ community, especially the transgender community, into our society without any prejudices.
