Guwahati: In a relentless effort to combat the growing menace of drugs in the city, the Guwahati police have launched a series of operations, leading to multiple arrests and seizures. In a surprising turn of events, it has come to light that even a section of spas and beauty salons have become hubs for drug rackets. It has become crucial for the authorities to maintain their vigilance because drug dealers continue to operate with impunity despite the police's best efforts.

A shocking incident unfolded when a raid was conducted at the New Star Beauty & Spa Salon in Ulubari, Guwahati, where 7 vials of suspected heroin, weighing 9.28 grams, and 9 wraps of ganja, weighing 81.05 grams, were seized. Three individuals identified as Saleha Khatun (21), Trisha Das (23), and Munni Khan (24) were arrested in connection with the seizure.

In another operation, a West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) team from Fatasil Ambari PS arrested Uday Das of Jalukbari for possession of 28 vials of suspected heroin, weighing 37.46 grams.

Additionally, the Central Guwahati Police District (CGPD) team from Pan Bazaar PS arrested Sairuddin Ali (20) of Bilasipara for possession of 18 vials of suspected heroin, weighing 23.59 grams.

In a separate operation, a team of the Special Task Force (STF) led by Inspector Sankar Jyoti Nath raided the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Betkuchi, Guwahati, and apprehended Nurul Haque (45). The seized items included 19 soap boxes containing heroin, weighing 239.5 grams, and one mobile phone.

Legal actions have been initiated against all the accused.
