GUWAHATI: The Gauhati University NSS Cell, in collaboration with NSS and NYKS Assam, observed the 135th birth anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar on April 14, 2025, at Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia College.
The programme began with rich floral tributes, followed by a padayatra involving 350 NSS volunteers and programme officers from various colleges under Gauhati University. The gathering was addressed by Jangjilong, Regional Director, NSS, NER; Dr Ranjan Kumar Kakati, Director of Students’ Welfare, G.U. and Programme Coordinator of GU NSS Cell; Dinobandu Saha, State Director, NYKS; Nakul Ch. Deori, Youth Officer, NSS; and Promotesh Chakraborty, Deputy Director, NYKS. The chief speaker on the occasion, Dr Faraj Ali Ahmed, Assistant Professor, Political Science Department, Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia College, spoke about the life and legacy of Dr Ambedkar. Dr. Nurul Islam, Assistant Professor and NSS Programme Officer of the host college, coordinated today’s programme.
