Guwahati: In a heartfelt celebration of International Nursing Week 2025, Santaneer, a registered not-for-profit initiative, in collaboration with Bhagawati SriSri Chandika Devi Temple Unnayan Society and the dedicated Nursing Team of Apollo Hospitals, Guwahati, organized a Free Health Awareness and Basic Health Screening Camp at Santaneer – Home for the Elderly, located in Amerigog, 8 Mile, Khanapara, Guwahati.
This deeply compassionate outreach effort was designed to uplift and support the elderly and local community by delivering essential healthcare services, education, and personal attention—hallmarks of the nursing profession’s enduring commitment to human dignity and well-being.
The initiative was led with empathy and expertise by Pinaki Bayan, Head of Nursing at Apollo Hospitals, Guwahati. Her team conducted a highly interactive and practical skills development workshop, emphasizing: The importance of hand hygiene and basic life support (BLS) techniques with hands on training and First aid skills including bleeding control and basic fracture management.
The workshop reached a wide and eager audience, including students and teachers from 8 Mile Lower Primary School, AI College, Khanapara, and the Department of Public Administration, Assam Don Bosco University, Sonapur, as well as caregivers and residents from surrounding villages—spreading knowledge, confidence, and a sense of community resilience.
As part of the health camp, free screenings for chronic illnesses such as hypertension and diabetes were offered, helping participants take important steps toward early detection and better health management.
A particularly moving moment of the day was the felicitation of Santaneer’s elderly residents by the nursing team, who offered not just words of appreciation but also gifts of utility and comfort—symbols of love, respect, and the community’s shared responsibility to care for its senior members.
Through this initiative, Santaneer reaffirms its unwavering commitment to fostering health, dignity, and empowerment—especially among the elderly. With a legacy of programmes focused on healthcare, livelihood development, environmental awareness, and lifelong learning, Santaneer continues to stand as a beacon of compassion and social responsibility, stated a press release.
