Guwahati: The 7th Panchaguru Shraddhanjali programme was held today at the Cotton University Alumni Bhavan to honour five retired professors of Cotton University. The event was organised by the Cotton College Retired Teachers' Forum. Five former faculty members of Cotton College-Prof. Suresh Chandra Rajkhowa, Prof. Kalinath Sarma, Prof. Binanda Chandra Barman, Prof. Dimbeswar Sarma, and Prof. Parukutty Barua-who completed a hundred years of age in and around the last decade were posthumously honoured at the event.
Vice-Chancellor of Cotton University Prof. Ramesh Chandra Deka was present at the event as the chief guest. Former president of the Axam Xahitya Xabha and former DGP of Assam, Kuladhar Saikia, was present as the distinguished guest. The programme was presided over by Dr. Indra Kumar Bhattacharyya, president of the Cotton College Retired Teachers' Forum. Advisor to the Cotton University Retired Teachers' Forum Dr. Tarakeshwar Choudhury was also present on the occasion, a press release said.
