Guwahati: DoLR, Government of India Launched Watershed Yatra Campaign 2025

GUWAHATI: The Department of Land Resources (DoLR), the Government of India launched the Watershed Yatra Campaign 2025 on February 5. The event will continue till March 18, 2025. This nationwide initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of watershed development and promote community participation in the maintenance of created assets.

The campaign is part of the Watershed Development Component-Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (WDC-PMKSY) 2.0, which emphasises sustainable development and water conservation.

The pre-launch phase has been successfully implemented in 30 districts of Assam, where WDC-PMKSY 2.0 projects have been carried out. This phase includes door-to-door campaigns, Gram Sabha meetings, morning processions, wall painting activities, and more.

The launch of the yatra took place on February 5, 2025, at Bhumi Sangrakshan Bhuvan, R.G. Baruah Road, Guwahati, with an inaugural programme, a flag-off ceremony, and the plantation of trees under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative, SHG's stall, etc.

Minister of Soil Conservation Urkhao Gowra Brahma was the chief guest, and other dignitaries, including SLNA Chairperson Aruna Rajoria, were present. The campaign will conclude with the inauguration of completed works under WDC-PMKSY 2.0. The Watershed Yatra Campaign 2025 is a significant initiative towards promoting sustainable development and water conservation in India.
