GUWAHATI: A joint operation conducted by the Special Operations Group (SOG) and Jalukbari Outpost (OP) led to the arrest of Samsul Ali, aged 38, from Garigaon. He was apprehended near the Jalukbari Flyover with 14 vials of heroin weighing 14.48 grams. Along with the contraband, police also seized a POCO mobile phone and Rs 1,850 in cash. Legal proceedings have been initiated against him. In a separate incident, a team from Basistha Police Station investigated a reported theft in the Borbakra area of Lokhra and arrested the main accused, Biki Das, 25, of Mirza. The police recovered a stolen Realme mobile handset and the clothes worn during the crime. Further investigation is currently underway. Meanwhile, a team from Panbazar Police Station raided a hideout at No. 2 Railway Gate and arrested 20-year-old Bijay Barman. He was found in possession of 17 vials of heroin weighing 22.53 grams. Legal action has been initiated in this case as well. Acting on an intelligence input, another team from Panbazar PS raided a hideout at No. 2 Rail Gate and arrested Bishal Das, aged 20, from Barpeta. The team seized seven vials of heroin weighing 9.32 grams from his possession. Legal proceedings are underway.
