GUWAHATI: Assam Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Kaushik Rai on Saturday reviewed the implementation of no-vending zones on S.S. Road, M.S. Road and H.B. Road in Fancy Bazar.
At a meeting with senior officials, it was decided that the no-vending regulation on M.S. Road and H.B. Road would take effect from September 1, 2026. Commercial vehicles would be permitted from 9 pm to 7 am, while public vehicle parking and handcarts or pushcarts would also be allowed.
The same provisions would apply to S.S. Road, though its implementation date would be decided separately.
Rai directed officials to ensure coordination and effective implementation of the measures to improve traffic flow, pedestrian safety and the orderly management of vending activities in the busy commercial area.
