Guwahati: Illegal liquor seized, legal proceedings initiated

Guwahati: In a continued effort to curb the illegal sale of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) conducted two separate raids in Sonapur and Bhangagarh, acting on credible intelligence inputs. In the first case, an EGPD team from Sonapur Police Station raided a shop at Badabasti Tiniali, reportedly involved in the unlawful sale of IMFL. The shop is owned by Subham Choudhary, a resident of Elenga, Sonapur. During the raid, officials seized a significant quantity of liquor, including 18 bottles of Kingfisher Beer (750 ml), 6 bottles of No.1 McDowell’s (375 ml), 1 bottle of Royal Stag (375 ml), 6 bottles of Royal Stag (180 ml), and 8 bottles of No.1 McDowell’s (180 ml). Legal action has been initiated against the accused. In a separate operation, an EGPD team from Bhangagarh Police Station raided the residence of one Mangli Devi, located at the Bhangagarh hilltop. The raid was conducted following specific intelligence report regarding the illegal sale of liquor from the premises. The team recovered 55 bottles of Kingfisher Beer, 23 bottles of Budweiser, 16 bottles of Tuborg, 15 bottles of Simba, 12 bottles of Godfather, and 7 bottles of IB Black (quarter). Necessary legal proceedings have been initiated.
