Guwahati Police Recover 18 Stolen Mobile Phones, Arrest Man Allegedly Smuggling Them to Bangladesh Border

Police intercepted a vehicle at Khanapara Naka in Guwahati and recovered 18 stolen mobile phones. The accused, Sanjib Singh of Hengrabari, was allegedly transporting stolen phones to the Assam-Bangladesh border via Meghalaya.

Guwahati Police intercepted a vehicle at the Khanapara Naka checkpost, near the CP office, on Tuesday and recovered 18 stolen mobile phones from the vehicle's trunk during a routine search.

The accused has been identified as Sanjib Singh, a resident of Hengrabari, Guwahati.

Further investigation revealed that the recovered mobile phones had been stolen from various locations across the region.

Singh was reportedly on his way to the Assam-Bangladesh border at the time of his arrest, intending to hand the phones over to associates waiting there.

Police found that this was not an isolated incident. Singh had allegedly been running a smuggling operation for several months, regularly transporting stolen mobile phones to the India-Bangladesh border through Meghalaya.

Legal action has been initiated against him and the case remains under active investigation.
