Guwahati: Police seized drugs; three arrested in city

Guwahati: A team from Latasil Police Station carried out a series of anti-narcotics operations across multiple locations, leading to the seizure of heroin, large sums of cash, and vehicles allegedly purchased through drug money. The operation began at Kharghuli Hatishil, where Rajdeep Chungkrang of Khanapara Debanagar was apprehended. He was found in possession of two packets of heroin weighing 10.82g and 11.74g respectively, Rs 1,150 in cash, and an Activa with a broken number plate.

Acting on inputs provided by Chungkrang, police raided the residence of Basanta Doley in Jayanagar. Despite initial resistance, the team recovered half-burnt remnants of heroin. A Hyundai i20 (AS01EV7465) and a scooter (AS01FA8254), suspected to be proceeds from drug-related activities, were seized from the premises.

Further investigation led the police to Rukminigaon, where a raid was conducted at the residence of Kushal Doley. During the search, officers recovered 20 vials of heroin and Rs 1,96,170 in cash from a Mahindra Scorpio bearing registration number AS01GE5493. Rajdeep Chungkrang and Basanta Doley are currently in custody, and legal action has been initiated.
