GUWAHATI: The Pratibondhi Suraksha Sanstha, Assam (PSSA) has threatened to go for a series of agitations from January 24, 2025, in protest against, as it says, deception to differently abled people of the state by the state government.

Speaking to the media today, PSSA secretary Nripen Malakar said, “Because of the whims and fancies of the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment of the state government, the people with special abilities have to face deception. The Director of Social Justice and Empowerment gave us a written assurance to hold a high-level meeting by December 30, 2024, to solve our problems. However, the director has not held any meeting regarding our problems as of now. We are physically disabled, but not mentally. However, the director is misleading us by presuming that we are mentally disabled.”

He further said, “In accordance with the relevant Act for differently abled people, the government should pay us pensions regularly, fill in our backlog posts in various departments of the state government, and scrupulously adhere to the four revered posts for differently abled candidates in recruitments, etc. Our proposed agitation is to register our protest against the deception we have been facing from the government in getting these genuine demands fulfilled.”
